1st National University Biennial was a project which had the objective of searching the nation, in all the public and private universities, for visual arts that offer multiple perspectives to analyze and discuss the national art panorama and the contemporary academic production. Categories were two-dimensional and tridimensional work.
Considering one of the core missions that UAEM has is fostering culture aimed at building universal citizens, and with the purpose of founding the appropriate platforms for the creation, dissemination and outreach of artistic productions and cultural activities, our institution calls for the 7th International University Visual Arts Biennial, which will allow participants to present different perspectives and approaches towards their surroundings, as well as to express human beings’ creative force, their interaction with both their environment and society.
A major global spread of knowledge and research in terms of arts has been achieved through the past six editions of the International University Visual Arts Biennial.
THE 1ST UNIVERSITY VISUAL ARTS BIENNIAL/ 2003
2nd UNIVERSITY VISUAL ARTS BIENNIAL/ 2005
This Biennial was a competition focused on the search, identification and promotion of university talents, a national exhibition that was created for a variety of divergent proposals. It created a space for academic discussion in order to examine with self-criticism, the pertinence and validity of their own educational models. Direction was focused on image, instant and time from Giles Deleuze.
3rd UNIVERSITY VISUAL ARTS BIENNIAL/ 2007
This Biennial supported national artistic production as well as generate reflection around the function of Biennales and reconsider the selection criteria.
It generated an inclusive project on the part of the academy who actively involved themselves as a committed jury, interested in reflecting on the challenges of the legalization of art. The theoretical framework was based on Regis Debray.
4th UNIVERSITY VISUAL ARTS BIENNIAE/ 2009
The academic proposal of the Biennial, recognized the history and critique of art, implicating the comprehension of art creation without the benefit of strengthening the type of narrative that could be considered standard and the understanding of different ways of teaching art.
The tendency was towards technology.
5th UNIVERSITY VISUAL ARTS BIENNIAL/ 2011
The 5th International University Visual Arts Biennial responded to the original initiative, but in contrast to former Biennales, the call went out to universities in the nation as well as other countries. The rules were also defined in more detail, reaching out to students, academics and graduates in public and privates schools.
6th UNIVERSITY VISUAL ARTS BIENNIAL/ 2013
Consolidate a project in the field of Visuality, which aims to compare, compare, reflect and analyze University contemporary art. Ten years begins this move in different directions, calling for national universities, and international.
